Atletico face Marseille in the Europa League final to give Fernando Torres a last chance of winning a trophy with his boyhood club
Atletico Madrid and Marseille have conflicting records in Europe’s second-tier cup competition.
The Spanish outfit have appeared in two UEFA Europa League finals and won both of them, in 2010 and 2012.
Marseille have also reached two finals, when the competition was still the UEFA Cup, in 1999 and 2004, but they were the losing side on both occasions.
The two sides come together for 2018’s Europa League final at Lyon’s Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Wednesday, and many expect Atleti to continue both their perfect record and Marseille’s losing one.
This will be an open draw in which no teams are seeded. The side drawn first will play the first leg at home. It will be streamed live on UEFA.com, while reaction from each camp will follow on Calciomercato.com throughout the afternoon.
UEFA Europa League final ambassador Éric Abidal will help to conduct the draw and will also be involved in handing over the trophy to the host city of Lyon.
The first legs will be on Thursday 26th April, with the returns taking place on Thursday 3rd May. The exact schedule will be confirmed later this afternoon.
